3 nights through Sri Lanka

Four days, guided, on a Royal Enfield 350 Classic, as a short loop through Sri Lanka’s southern hills.

The operator named this one after the Iron Maiden song and aims it at riders who need a break from the heat and want cooler air. It starts and finishes in Galle on the south coast and covers about 570 km on tarmac, at four to five hours riding a day. It is the shortest tour in the operator’s Sri Lanka range, so it suits a long weekend rather than a fortnight.

On day one the group meets at 8 am for introductions and breakfast at The Shack Beach Cafe in Galle, then rides towards Sinharaja Rainforest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its biodiversity, through small towns and tea plantations. Day two goes down the famous Wangu Ten bends, then up through forests with waterfalls and pines to Maskeliya, known for its tea estates, its reservoir and as the gateway to Adam’s Peak. On day three the route passes tea plantations towards Nuwara Eliya and Horton Plains National Park at 1,800 metres on a mix of bumpy and smooth roads, and ends in the lively town of Ella. Day four descends the winding road to the south coast for lunch by the beach and farewell drinks in Galle.

The price is per rider, with a lower pillion rate. It covers the motorcycle, fuel and spares, selected lodges, villas and hotels, all meals, an expert guide, a support vehicle and mechanic, and the Horton Plains ticket. Flights, visa, insurance and alcohol are not included, and airport transfers and a bespoke extension are optional extras. An International Driving Licence and Ceylon AA endorsement are needed, and the operator can arrange the permit for an extra US$50. Dates are not yet set, and the page lists a minimum of four riders and a maximum of 10.
