Pacific Northwest Motorcycle Tour

Two countries in eight days. This loop starts in Seattle, crosses into British Columbia for the Okanagan wine valley and Vancouver, and comes back down into Washington, seven nights and around 1,100 miles with a border crossing at each end.

The first two days are long, 300 and 280 miles, over Snoqualmie Pass to Spokane and then north through Colville into Canada and the Okanagan Valley at Kelowna. The Okanagan is orchard and vineyard country strung along a long glacial lake, and it is considerably warmer and drier than most people expect of British Columbia.

A short 110-mile ride follows up the length of the lake to Kamloops, and then the route turns west for the best day of the whole trip. Ashcroft leads to Highway 99, the Sea to Sky Highway, which climbs from the coast to Whistler between mountains and inlets and is one of the finest stretches of road in Canada. Vancouver gets two nights and a free day, then the final ride returns south through Bellingham and Mount Vernon to Seattle.

A passport is needed for both border crossings, which is worth sorting out well before booking. For riders who want wine country, big mountains and two cities worth an evening in a single week, this route covers a great deal of the Pacific Northwest without ever doubling back on itself, and the Sea to Sky day alone would justify the booking.
