Both halves of Volcanoes and Passes, run as one guided trip. Sixteen days from Seattle to Los Angeles, fifteen nights and around 2,990 miles, which makes this the complete version and the longest guided tour on the Pacific side of the range.

The first week is the volcanoes. Mount Rainier on Highway 410, then Mount St Helens on the White Pass Scenic Byway, then the Columbia River and Mount Hood, then Crater Lake, which fills the caldera of a mountain that blew itself apart around 7,700 years ago and holds water of an almost unreasonable blue. Mount Shasta and Lassen Volcanic National Park follow before the Golden Gate.

San Francisco gets two nights and a free day in the middle of the trip, which is also where the group changes over for anyone riding only one of the two halves. The second week is the passes: Yuba, Donner and Spooner to Lake Tahoe, then Daggett, Luther and Carson to Sonora, then Sonora Pass and Tioga Pass into Yosemite, with Walker, Tehachapi and Tejon bringing the route down to Malibu and Los Angeles.

EAGLERIDER provides the motorcycle, the tour leader, all fifteen nights and the group dinners. Fuel, most meals and insurance are arranged separately. Riding days run from 150 to 328 miles with one free day built in. For riders with a clear fortnight who want the whole Cascade and Sierra Nevada chain in one go rather than split across two separate trips, this is the way to do it.
