10 nights through Egypt

Egypt on a motorcycle, guided throughout. Eleven days from Cairo, ten nights and around 1,360 miles, running down the Nile Valley to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings before crossing the Eastern Desert to the Red Sea.

Cairo gets a full day before the riding starts, which it needs: the Giza pyramids and the Great Sphinx, the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Khan El Khalili bazaar are a lot to fit into one morning. Then the route follows the Nile Valley south to El Minya along part of the Holy Family Trail, and continues on open desert highway to Luxor.

Luxor is the centre of the trip. A full day covers the Valley of the Kings and the Karnak temple complex, with a hot air balloon flight over the west bank at dawn available as an option, and a bus excursion runs south to the island temple of Philae at Aswan. After that the route crosses the Eastern Desert to the Red Sea at El Quseir, which has a free day for diving or doing nothing, then Hurghada and the long run back to Cairo.

EAGLERIDER provides the motorcycle, the tour leader, all ten nights and the welcome arrangements. Fuel, most meals and insurance are arranged separately. Four of the eleven days involve no riding at all, so this is as much a cultural tour as it is a motorcycle one. For riders who want somewhere genuinely different and would rather not organise Egypt themselves, it is an exceptional trip.
