9 Day Garden Route 62 (Guided)

The guided version of the Garden Route and Route 62, and one of the best-value tours in the range. Nine days out of Cape Town, eight nights and around 830 miles, with a tour leader, a welcome dinner and an anchor day at Knysna.

It heads inland through False Bay and the Cape Winelands to Montagu, and then Route 62 carries the route east to Oudtshoorn by way of the Swartberg Mountains. That single day holds a great deal: ostrich show farms, bush and meerkat excursions, and the Cango Caves, a limestone system running deep into the mountain. The Outeniqua Mountain Pass follows on the way to Knysna, with the Seven Passes route available as an alternative for anyone wanting more corners.

The anchor day at Knysna is where most of the optional extras live. A lagoon cruise, the Tsitsikamma canopy tour, an elephant park, or a jump off the Bloukrans Bridge, which at 216 metres is the highest commercial bungy in the world. After that the route turns west through the Overberg wheat fields and Bredasdorp to Arniston, then Cape Agulhas and Hermanus, and the final day comes back through Boulders Beach, the Cape of Good Hope and Chapman’s Peak.
