10 nights through Morocco

Ten nights in a loop from Marrakesh, guided, 1,500 kilometres from the Atlas Mountains to the Sahara on a Royal Enfield.

Bin el Ouidane comes first, a reservoir in the Middle Atlas, then Azrou in the cedar forests, which is high enough to get snow and is nothing like the Morocco most visitors see.

Errachidia follows on the way south, then Merzouga at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, where the sand rises a hundred and fifty metres and the night is spent in a desert caravanserai. The Dades Gorge comes next on the return, with the road climbing through red rock in a stack of hairpins that is among the most photographed stretches of tarmac in Africa, then Ait Benhaddou, a world heritage kasbah of rammed earth that has stood in for half the ancient world on film, and the Tizi n’Tichka pass back over the High Atlas to Marrakesh.

Accommodation in inns and hotels in single or double rooms, the airport transfers, the Royal Enfield, all the meals, two professional guides, first aid, a chase vehicle with a driver, mechanic, tools and spares, all the fees and permits and the drinking water are all included; the Morocco visa, flights, medical insurance, gratuities, alcohol and any damage to the motorcycle are not, and a five-hundred-dollar bike deposit is required. The full day-by-day itinerary sits behind an enquiry form on the operator’s site. Spring and autumn are the seasons, since the desert in July and August is brutal and the Atlas passes can close in winter.
