11 nights through Vietnam

Eleven nights in a loop from Hanoi, guided, through the far north of Vietnam, with everything included down to the laundry.

The inclusions here are unusually complete: all the meals, the entrance fees, the boat tickets, a laundry service and a professional photo and video package covering the whole journey, which on a trip this photogenic is worth more than it sounds.

Phu Yen opens the route, then Ta Xua, where a ridge known as the Dinosaur Spine stands above a sea of cloud in the early morning, and Tram Tau. Mu Cang Chai follows with its terraced rice fields, then Sapa and the Hoang Lien Son range over the Khau Pha and O Quy Ho passes, the latter at eighteen hundred metres. The Ha Giang Loop comes next along the Chinese border, with the Ma Pi Leng pass cut by hand into a cliff above the Nho Que gorge, and the Sunday market at Bac Ha, which only happens on Sundays and is the real thing. A boat across Ba Be Lake to Puong Cave closes the loop.

The airport transfer, an English-speaking guide, a professional mechanic and a dedicated cameraman, a support vehicle for the luggage, four-star hotels, homestays and bungalows as appropriate, all the meals, the entrance and boat fees, laundry and the photo and video package are all included; insurance, bike damage, personal spending, flights and visas are not. The bikes are Honda CRFs, Kawasaki KLXs or a Honda CB500. September to November and March to May are the windows.
