Eight nights through northern and southern Thailand, guided, in a Porsche 911, with the price quoted on application.

A 911 on Thai mountain roads is an unusual proposition and a good one: the surfaces in the north are better than most of Europe’s, the corners are relentless and the traffic thins to nothing once off the highways.

Chiang Mai opens it at the 137 Pillars House, with an optional tuk-tuk tour, a briefing and a Lanna dinner. Bo Kluea follows by way of Nan on Route 1081, around five hours of mountain road and among the most scenic drives in the country, with a boutique homestay near the Laos border. The Golden Triangle comes next through Doi Phu Kha National Park, with a cocoa farm and a rice-field lunch, and two nights at the Four Seasons Tented Camp above the Mekong, where a rest day includes the elephant camp with its head keeper and an optional longtail boat to the viewpoint. Chiang Mai follows again with a tea plantation and a panoramic picnic, then the Samoeng Loop and Pai, before the south and a yacht excursion into Phang Nga Bay, which a Bond film made famous in 1974.
