4 nights through United Kingdom

Four nights in the Scottish Highlands, a touring rally from a single hotel, in the guest’s own classic.

Winter in the Highlands is a bold choice for a rally and a good one: the roads are empty, the light is low and the scenery is at its most dramatic, with the entry covering bed, breakfast and dinner for four nights at one hotel.

Coul House at Contin is the base, with a welcome dinner on arrival. The first day runs eight special sections through Ross-shire and the Black Isle, past Glenmorangie, over the Cromarty Bridge and down the East Watergate to the Fairy Glen Falls. The second takes Loch Ness and the Great Glen, by Strathpeffer, Glen Ord, the tree-lined descent at Foxhole, the military road south, the Corkscrew above the Falls of Foyers, Urquhart Castle and the hairpins above Drumnadrochit. The third heads west to Lochcarron and the Colonel’s Road, then over the Bealach na Ba, the Pass of the Cattle, which climbs over two thousand feet in unprotected hairpins, with a section named for the Arctic Convoys running along Loch Ewe.

Entry for two people and their car, four nights’ bed and breakfast in a twin or double, the evening meals, a Tulip roadbook and maps, an experienced rally team, mechanical assistance and event regalia are all included. Eligible classes run from vintage pre-1949 through classic and modern classic to an open touring class. Winter conditions on the Bealach na Ba are a genuine consideration, and the organisers will reroute if it is shut.
