8 nights through Ireland

Eight nights in a loop of Ireland from Waterford to Dublin and back to the ferry, taking in the Ring of Kerry, the Dingle peninsula and the Cliffs of Moher. Riders bring their own bike or hire a current BMW.

The crossing from Fishguard to Rosslare starts it, with a briefing and welcome dinner at Waterford, the oldest city in the country. The south coast then runs out to Mizen Head, the most southwesterly point in Ireland, with the night at Bantry in west Cork, which has a microclimate mild enough for palm trees to grow outdoors.

The Ring of Kerry follows to Killarney over mountain passes and along the coast, then the Dingle peninsula on narrow lanes, with a stop at the South Pole Inn. The pub was bought by Tom Crean, who went south three times with Scott and Shackleton, walked thirty-five miles alone across the ice to save a companion’s life, and then came home and poured pints in Annascaul for the rest of his days.

Ennis follows in Clare, then the Cliffs of Moher and Galway, where the Corrib meets the Atlantic, then across the middle of the country to Dublin and a day there for the Guinness Storehouse, Christ Church and its twelfth-century crypt, Malahide Castle or simply Temple Bar. The Wicklow Mountains and the Wexford coast close the trip with dinner by the sea. Hotels, breakfasts, three dinners, the return ferry, maps and GPS routes are included, with fuel and other meals separate. The price is quoted per person.
