Brittany and Normandy Short Break
The Pink Granite Coast opens the ride, then a Normandy landscape so green and hilly it’s nicknamed Little Switzerland – five nights through Brittany’s granite coastline and Normandy’s rolling countryside.

5 nights through France
Five nights through Brittany and Normandy at a relaxed pace, starting from St Malo. Own bike or a hired BMW.
St Malo opens it in the old town, a corsair port rebuilt stone by stone after 1944, then the ride west to Ploumanac’h on the Pink Granite Coast, where the shoreline is piled with granite boulders weathered into shapes that have all been given names, and the rock genuinely is pink in the right light.
The route then turns south through small villages and the Monts d’Arree, which are the high ground of inland Brittany and provide the best of the winding roads, to Concarneau, a walled town built on an island in its own harbour and still one of the busier fishing ports in France, with an evening given over to local food.
Dinan follows inland, medieval, cobbled and half-timbered, with ramparts that can be walked, then the route runs west towards the Normandie-Maine natural park and back to the coast at Granville, which gets called the Monaco of the North for its clifftop upper town and its harbour, and which takes the farewell dinner. The run to the ferry at Caen crosses the Suisse Normande, a stretch of valleys and pasture that earned its name from people who had evidently never been to Switzerland. Hotels, breakfasts, three dinners, the ferry, maps and GPS routes are included, with fuel and other meals separate. The price is quoted per person. Five nights makes this one of the shorter trips in the range, and the daily distances are modest enough to leave afternoons free, which is the point of it.
