Maritime Marvels With Campgrounds
Hike a headland cliff trail rated among Cape Breton’s best, then a few days later stand where Alexander Graham Bell chose to spend his summers on a part-fresh, part-saltwater inland sea – fifteen nights through the Maritimes.

15 nights through Canada
Fifteen nights in a motorhome round Cape Breton with the campgrounds booked in advance, built around one road that justifies the whole trip.
Halifax opens it, then the Ceilidh Trail runs about a hundred kilometres up the western side of Cape Breton along the Gulf of St Lawrence. The name is not decorative: this coast was settled by Scottish Highlanders and the fiddle tradition they brought is still played in halls and pubs along the route, often informally and most nights in summer.
Cheticamp follows, an Acadian fishing village with St Peter’s Church and Les Trois Pignons, which holds a collection of hooked rugs, a local craft taken seriously enough to have its own museum. Whale watching is optional from there.
The Cabot Trail is the centrepiece, and the 115 kilometre stretch through Cape Breton Highlands National Park climbs over headlands with the sea below on one side and forested plateau on the other. More than twenty-five trails run off it, of which the Skyline is the one everyone walks, a boardwalk out onto a cliff headland. An optional ferry day trip goes to the Bird Islands for puffins, seals and bald eagles. Baddeck follows on Bras d’Or Lake, a part-salt inland sea, with Alexander Graham Bell’s former home, where he worked on hydrofoils and aircraft long after the telephone. Sherbrooke Village, a living-history recreation, closes the route. Canadian Affair include the flights, the motorhome, the campgrounds and the listed attractions, with fuel, insurance and meals separate. The price is per person.
