Two nights in the Salzburg Lungau, guided, with snow drifting training on ice tracks, in the guest’s own car or a rental, and the price quoted on application.

Up to a hundred and twenty kilometres of drifting a day is the claim, on tracks and modules exceeding four kilometres, which is a great deal more seat time than most winter driving courses manage.

The base is the Hotel Wastlwirt in the heart of the Lungau Biosphere Reserve, a four-star place with a wellness area, a large indoor pool, a sauna and a fitness room, which after a day of concentration is the right thing to come back to. The programme runs instructor-led sports driving training with exercises built for drivers who already have some ability, then drifting practice on a large circle and a drift race for a winner’s cup, with free driving filling the rest. A full day’s skiing on the nearby slopes can be taken instead for anyone who would rather.

The instructor-led training with individual feedback, access to the ice tracks and modules and the hotel accommodation are included; international flights, the car unless renting from the operator’s fleet, fuel, lift passes, wellness treatments and unspecified meals are not. The fleet runs to around fifteen vehicles, with a Subaru WRX STI, a SEAT Leon Cupra or a Toyota GT86 available. The price is given on application. Deep winter is the season, since the whole thing depends on the ice holding. Bringing your own car is possible, which not every winter course allows.
