Through Austria

A single day at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, guided, driving three different machines back to back, capped at eight people, with the price quoted on application.

The comparison is the product. A Porsche 718 Cayman S, a KTM X-Bow and a Formula Renault single-seater on the same circuit on the same day is a rare chance to feel what each layout actually does, rather than reading about it.

The day runs nine until six at the circuit. One twenty-five-minute stint in the Cayman S opens it, a mid-engined road car and the most familiar of the three. Two stints in the X-Bow follow, which weighs 790 kilos with no bodywork to speak of, then two in the Formula Renault, a genuine single-seater with aerodynamics and a sequential gearbox, which is a considerable step again. A two-course lunch at the Bull’s Lane restaurant, an aperitif after the driving and a three-course dinner with an open bar until ten close the day.

The rotating sessions in all three machines, insurance with a deductible and the fuel, the instructors and safety team, the lunch with drinks, the dinner with the open bar, the aperitif, professional photography and onboard video from the Formula Renault stints are all included; flights, accommodation and the insurance deductible are not. The price is given on application. Dates follow the circuit’s calendar from spring to autumn. An eight-person cap means a great deal of track time per head, which is what separates this from a conventional track day.
