Overland 4x4 Adventure
The Sky Road at Kylemore Abbey comes first, then breakfast with a falconer and a bagpiper waiting on a bridge – two nights of light off-road 4×4 driving through Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.
Tell us your trip details and we'll put together a complimentary Stradora Expedition Pack for the journey.
2 nights through Ireland
Two nights in the west of Ireland, driven in the guest’s own showroom 4×4, on scenic trails chosen because supercars cannot reach them.
The premise is a good one. The organisers run Europe’s largest supercar road trip and know perfectly well where those cars cannot go, so this event deliberately heads for the tracks and lanes they have to drive past.
The start point varies by edition, with past runnings from Salthill in Galway. The route is curated for showroom-class 4x4s, mixing light off-road driving with relaxed touring, and past editions have covered the Wild Atlantic Way, the Sky Road at Kylemore Abbey, the Spanish Armada viewing point, Achill Island and the Atlantic Drive, which Conde Nast Traveller has rated among the ten best road trips in Europe. Two nights at a luxury hotel, in past years the Knockranny House, and the organisers’ habit of arranging surprises, a bagpiper waiting on a bridge and a falconer at breakfast among them, give the weekend its character alongside the green laning.
One 4×4 entry, lunches and evening meals, two nights of hotel, the car graphics, photography and crew, and an information pack with lanyards and route plans are all included; the car, fuel and flights are not. Hire is available through a named partner. Eligible vehicles run from a Land Rover Defender or Jeep Wrangler to a Bentley Bentayga or Porsche Cayenne, which is a broad church. The price shown is per person and varies by edition. Late spring to early autumn gives the best of the weather, and the west of Ireland supplies rain in any month. Three days is enough for a proper weekend without using up annual leave.
