World Tour // North & Central America: Los Angeles - Panama City

Forty-three days from Los Angeles to Panama City on the rider’s own motorcycle, through seven countries. This is part of the operator’s World Tour series and it is an expedition: six weeks, two continents’ worth of change, and a bike that has to be shipped.

Los Angeles starts it, then Baja California by way of Ensenada and La Paz, the long thin peninsula of desert and empty coast that is one of the great motorcycling runs in North America. Mainland Mexico follows through Guadalajara and Oaxaca to the Palenque ruins, a Maya city swallowed by jungle and only partly excavated, with Popocatepetl on the route, an active volcano above the central plateau.

Central America comes next and the countries change quickly. Antigua in Guatemala is a colonial town ringed by volcanoes, the Copan ruins in Honduras hold the finest Maya carving anywhere, Granada in Nicaragua sits on a vast freshwater lake, and the Costa Rican Pacific coast follows. The trip ends at the Panama Canal, watching ships lifted through the Miraflores Locks.

The motorcycle is not included and riders must bring their own, though a rental quote can be arranged on request. Edelweiss provide the expedition support, the route planning and the accommodation, which the operator says plainly will range between three and five star according to what is available locally. No day-by-day itinerary is published, so the full detail has to come from the operator. Flights are separate. The price is 20,770 euros per person for 2027 on an own-bike basis.
