4 nights through Thailand

Four nights from Chiang Mai, guided, round the Mae Hong Son loop with white water rafting and an elephant village added, plus two complimentary hotel nights.

This is the newer version of the operator’s loop tour, with two days of the standard route given over to something else entirely: a river and an elephant camp rather than more corners.

Pai comes first by way of Mae Taeng, then Mae Hong Son, and the third day runs to Mae Sariang with white water rafting on a jungle river along the way. The fourth climbs Doi Inthanon, the highest mountain in Thailand, before dropping to the elephant village, where the night is spent under the jungle canopy and the morning includes a swim alongside the elephants, which the operator describes as being in their natural habitat; anyone for whom elephant welfare is a consideration should ask the operator directly how the animals are kept. A short final run returns to Chiang Mai.

The motorcycle, the fuel, the hotels on a twin-sharing basis including two complimentary nights, breakfast, lunch and dinner with soft drinks, all the riding gear, third-party liability insurance, a licensed guide, a chase vehicle with a spare motorcycle, the entrance fees and airport transfers for groups of four or more are all included; motorcycle health and CDW insurance, the deposit, alcohol, flights, visas and suggested tips are not. The price shown is for one rider. The cool dry season from November to February is the window, and the river runs best early in it.
