Six nights in a loop from Chiang Mai, guided, as a women-only ride timed to Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The format and the timing are both deliberate: an all-female group, late October dates, and a route that covers the best of northern Thailand rather than a shortened version of it.
A hot spring and the White Temple open the first day on the way to Chiang Khong on the Mekong. The Golden Triangle follows, where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet, with a tea plantation stop on the way to Fang. Cave temples and a coffee stop come next on the road to Pai, then Ban Rak Thai, a Chinese village near the Myanmar border settled by Kuomintang soldiers after 1949, and Mae Hong Son. A Long Neck Karen village follows on the way to Mae Sariang, then the summit of Doi Inthanon, the highest point in Thailand, and the return to Chiang Mai, closing with a Halloween party at the Route 66 Bikers Café, which the late-October dates make possible.
