Four nights at Banya near Bansko, guided, with three full days driving a 200bhp buggy in the mountains.
This is the longer version of the operator’s buggy break: one extra night and one extra driving day, which on terrain this physical is the difference between a taster and a proper go at it.
Sofia airport opens it, with a transfer of about two and a half hours to the Aquilon Spa Hotel at Banya, a briefing and a meal. The three driving days follow, each one starting with breakfast and a short transfer to the club base for kit, then guided driving through fords, mud, rock and forest track with lunch at a village tavern, and a different route back to the hotel for dinner and the thermal pools. The vehicle is a Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo, built for desert racing and considerably faster than the ground usually allows.
The buggy shared between two, with a solo option at a higher price, third-party insurance, the guide and technical support, the gear, the fuel, round-the-clock Sofia transfers, a double room at the Aquilon and full board including alcoholic drinks are all included; flights, travel insurance and spa treatments are not, and supplements are published for a single room, late check-out, an extra night and a private transfer. The price shown is per person sharing. Spring and autumn suit the trail conditions best. Three driving days at this price, with the hotel and the food in it, undercuts anything comparable in western Europe by a wide margin.
