15 nights through Canada

Fifteen nights in a motorhome, a full loop out of Vancouver through wine country to the Rockies and back by the coast road. It is the most comprehensive of the operator’s western itineraries.

Vancouver opens it with Stanley Park, Granville Island and Canada Place, then Manning Provincial Park with canoe hire and the Lightning Lake trails. The Okanagan follows, a long warm valley of orchards and vineyards with a full day given to the wineries, which is sensible in a motorhome where someone has to drive.

Revelstoke comes next, then the Kicking Horse Pass into Yoho for Wapta Falls and Emerald Lake. Banff gets two full days with the Sulphur Mountain gondola, Lake Minnewanka, Bow Falls and the Upper Hot Springs, open since 1886.

The Icefields Parkway then runs north to Jasper, taking in Bow Lake, the Ice Explorer out onto the Athabasca Glacier, the Glacier Skywalk and Athabasca Falls. Jasper gets a free day with the Maligne Lake cruise to Spirit Island, canoeing on Pyramid Lake and a resident elk herd around the townsite. The return goes along the Yellowhead past Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, then down to Whistler for bear watching and finally the Sea-to-Sky Highway into Vancouver, with Helmcken Falls in Wells Gray on the way. Canadian Affair include the flights, the motorhome and the listed attractions, with campground fees, fuel, insurance and meals separate. The price is per person. Fifteen nights is the right length for this loop: anything shorter and the Okanagan and the Rockies start competing for the same days, and the Sea-to-Sky at the end deserves to be driven slowly rather than as a dash for the airport.
