Through Germany

A single day of modern supercar driving in the Black Forest, out of Motorworld near Stuttgart and back the same evening.

The meeting is at half past eight at the V8 Hotel, with a safety and vehicle briefing, and the day finishes around half past four. The distinguishing feature is the swapping: the cars are rotated at the changeover points so that everyone drives every model once, which is a different proposition from being handed one car for the day.

Hirsau Monastery and Bad Wildbad come first as short stops, with lunch at Eberstein Castle. The Black Forest High Road follows, the B500 along the ridge, climbing to Lake Mummelsee at a thousand metres with views west into the Rhine valley and across to the Vosges in France. The Allerheiligen monastery ruins come next, with waterfalls below them and a walk in the grounds, then the Nagoldtalsperre dam and the motorway back.

The car with two hundred and fifty free kilometres and fuel, the car swaps, lunch, coffee breaks and drinks, an instructor following in a separate vehicle, a roadmap and digital route and the event photographs are all included. One day with no accommodation makes this the simplest thing in the range and a plausible gift rather than a holiday: the fleet runs from Porsche and Mercedes-AMG to Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and Aston Martin. The B500 is busy with traffic at weekends and empty midweek, which is worth knowing when picking a date, and the road is at its best between May and September.
