10 nights through Spain

Ten nights looping through Spain and Portugal from Malaga, down the Algarve to Lisbon and back across the Spanish interior. It takes in two capitals’ worth of city stops and a long stretch of coast, and the second half is the part few riders expect to enjoy most.

Seville gets the rest day, reached by way of Ronda and its canyon. Faro follows along the twisting coast road into the Algarve, then Sines on the Alentejo shore, then Lisbon. Lisbon is built on hills steep enough that the city runs funiculars up some of them, so the sensible approach is to park the bike and walk, which the operator says plainly.

The return leg is the surprise. A long crossing of Extremadura reaches Zafra, through a landscape of holm oak pasture and almost no traffic, with Evora on the route as well. Then Cordoba by way of the Sierra Morena, where the Mezquita is a mosque with a cathedral built inside it, which is as strange and impressive as that sounds. The final day runs back to Malaga.

Edelweiss include a choice of BMW motorcycle, ten nights in comfortable middle-range hotels, a guide and a tour book. Flights are separate, and a guided city tour of Malaga can be added at 350 euros per person with a 65 euro single supplement. Prices are per person for 2026. Two countries, two languages and a genuine change of character halfway round make this better value as a trip than its distance on a map suggests.
