8 nights through Croatia

Eight nights and six countries from Munich down the Adriatic to Montenegro and back up to Slovenia, in a car of the guest’s own.

Munich opens it with lunch at Motorworld, then Werfenweng near Salzburg with a fondue evening, and the Grossglockner High Alpine Road the next day, which climbs to around 2,500 metres and is the best-known pass in Austria. The Nassfeld Pass carries the route into Italy and Slovenia, then Opatija on the Croatian coast.

The Jadranska Magistrala follows, the Adriatic coast road, which runs for hundreds of kilometres between limestone mountains and the sea and is among the great drives of Europe. Split comes next, then Dubrovnik and Kamenari in Montenegro, with a full day on a yacht in the Bay of Kotor, jet skiing and swimming. The Kotor serpentines climb out of the bay afterwards, then Sarajevo, with an eight-course dinner and a wine tour at the Hedona winery, Zagreb with a tasting menu, Otocec with a sommelier, and Ljubljana at the end.

Single rooms at selected four and five-star hotels, the Kotor yacht day with jet ski, dinghy, catering and drinks, the lunches with soft drinks, the dinners, the parking, a guide with experienced instructors, a roadmap and walkie-talkies are all included; drinks with dinner are not, and participants drive their own car, with a rental available on request. Nine days and six countries at this price is the most substantial thing the operator runs, and the coast road through Croatia is the part that justifies it. Summer is the season, though the Adriatic in August is busy.
