The Four Corners of South East Asia
Visit the Vinh Moc Tunnels, built by locals to escape US Army bombardment, then the Hien Luong ‘Freedom Bridge’ crossing the former DMZ – twenty-four nights across four countries and 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

24 nights through Thailand
Twenty-four nights from Chiang Mai to Pattaya, guided, 5,200 kilometres across Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia, taking in seven world heritage sites.
Mae Hong Son opens it by way of Doi Inthanon, the highest point in Thailand, a Long Neck Karen village and the 1,864-curve road, then the Golden Triangle where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet on the Mekong and the opium trade was run from until the mid-1990s.
Laos follows across the river, with a rest day in Luang Prabang, a world heritage town and the former royal capital, then north along the Nam Ou and over the Song Cha range to an eco resort near Oudomxai. Vietnam comes next, with Paradise Cave, found in 2005 and thirty-one kilometres long, the Vinh Moc tunnels, dug by villagers to shelter from American bombing, and the Hien Luong bridge across the former demilitarised zone at the seventeenth parallel. An optional day runs along the Ho Chi Minh trail to the old base at Khe Sanh.
A late-model BMW or Triumph with unlimited mileage and fuel, an experienced guide riding alongside, the customs and immigration work for taking the bike out of Thailand, local guides in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos as the law requires, panniers, a top box and crash protection, tools and a tyre repair kit, and luggage carried in a support truck are all included. Twenty-five days across four borders is the most logistically involved thing in the range short of the expeditions, and the paperwork is the reason it costs what it does. The cool dry season from November to February is the window, and the war history through central Vietnam is handled seriously rather than as a sightseeing stop.
