Glacier National Park Motorcycle Tour

Three of the finest national parks in the United States, and one of its most celebrated roads. Eight days out of Jackson Hole, seven nights and around 960 miles, through Grand Teton and Yellowstone to Glacier National Park and the Going-to-the-Sun Road.

It opens short and spectacular, only 100 miles through Grand Teton to West Yellowstone, with the Teton range alongside for most of the way. Yellowstone itself follows, the oldest national park in the world and still the strangest of them, with its geysers, hot springs and the thermal basins that sit directly on top of an active supervolcano.

Montana fills the middle. Great Falls leads to St Mary at Glacier’s eastern entrance, and then comes the day the trip is built around: the Going-to-the-Sun Road, only 60 miles but climbing to Logan Pass on a narrow shelf cut into the mountainside, with glaciers, waterfalls and the Continental Divide. It is one of the great engineering achievements of American road building and an exceptional ride. Kalispell, Bozeman and a second run through Yellowstone close the loop back to Jackson Hole.

The Going-to-the-Sun Road is strictly seasonal and opens late, so timing matters on this one.
