4 nights through United States
Five days, four nights and around 700 miles. This is the short version of the Southwest, a compact loop out of Las Vegas that still manages the Hoover Dam, a stretch of Route 66, the Grand Canyon’s South Rim and Zion National Park.
It moves at a decent clip. The first riding day covers 232 miles to Williams, taking in the dam and the old Route 66 town of Kingman on the way, which is a good deal of scenery for a single afternoon. The bike is collected the same morning, so the trip starts properly within an hour of leaving the hotel.
Day two is the big one. The Grand Canyon’s South Rim comes early, then the route crosses the Navajo Bridge high above the Colorado and follows the Vermilion Cliffs to Kanab, 261 miles with almost no dull section in it. The final day returns through Zion National Park and its tunnels, with the option of a detour into the Valley of Fire, where the sandstone genuinely does look alight in late sun.
EAGLERIDER provides the motorcycle and books all four nights, with Harley-Davidson touring models alongside Triumph and BMW sport machines. Fuel, meals and insurance are arranged separately. Four nights is not long, but this route is planned to waste none of it, and Las Vegas at both ends keeps the flights and the arrival straightforward. For riders adding a few days to a trip to Nevada, it covers the headline sights without a week off work.
