The Madrid to Lisbon Grand Tour

Five nights from Madrid to Lisbon, driven in the guest’s own supercar, eight hundred miles across Spain and Portugal with the driving capped at four or five hours a day.

The cap is the thing worth noting. Eight hundred miles over five days in a supercar is a civilised pace, and the operator has deliberately built the days short enough that the cars are enjoyed rather than endured.

Madrid opens it, with an optional night beforehand. Avila comes first, a city encircled by one of the best-preserved medieval walls anywhere, eighty-eight towers and all of it walkable, then Salamanca, built in golden sandstone around one of Europe’s oldest universities and a Plaza Mayor that is among the finest squares in Spain. The Douro Valley follows for two nights, Portugal’s oldest demarcated wine region and a world heritage landscape of terraces cut into schist, with a full free day for the estates and a circular drive. Lisbon finishes it, with the Alfama, the Baixa and the Belem Tower, and an optional extra night.

Five nights at luxury spa hotels on bed and breakfast, luggage transport, a printed tour guide with maps and turn-by-turn navigation, still camera footage, two lead hosts and a graphic pack are all included; lunches, fuel, travel insurance, a compatible radio handset and the optional car transport are not. The price shown is for one person, with £5,990 quoted for two, and a £995 deposit. Enclosed lorry transport is offered at £2,500 plus customs paperwork. March 2027 is confirmed. The operator’s own notes give the lorry delivery point as Seville while the tour starts in Madrid, which needs clarifying before anyone commits to the transport option.
