14 nights through New Zealand

Fifteen days across both New Zealand islands, Christchurch to Auckland, with the North Island extension included as standard rather than sold as an add-on. For a country this far away that matters, because doing only the South Island means leaving half of it unseen.

Twizel comes first past Lake Pukaki, which is an implausible milky blue from glacial flour, with Mount Cook behind it at 3,724 metres. Te Anau follows near Milford Sound, then a rest day at Queenstown, which trades on being the adventure capital of the world and has the bungee jumping, jet boating and skydiving to back it up. Fox Glacier comes next along the West Coast, where rainforest runs down to the sea and the glaciers come almost to meet it.

A ferry across Cook Strait and the Queen Charlotte Drive lead to a rest day at Wellington, and then the North Island delivers an entirely different character: the geothermal springs and mud pools at Rotorua, the art deco town of Napier rebuilt after a 1931 earthquake, the Bay of Islands, the kauri giants of Waipoua Forest, Cape Reinga at the northern tip and the Coromandel peninsula, before the finish at Auckland.

Edelweiss include a choice of BMW motorcycle, fourteen nights in comfortable middle-range hotels, the North Island extension, a guide and a tour book. Flights are separate, between Christchurch and Auckland. Prices are per person for 2026. New Zealand’s roads are narrow, well surfaced and almost empty, and the scenery changes every hour, which is why it comes up so often as the best riding country on earth.
