D-Day Beaches (Normandy)
Stand on the beach that saw the heaviest Allied casualties of the entire invasion, then ride to the bridge captured by glider troops in the first hours of D-Day – three nights across Normandy’s landing beaches.

3 nights through France
Three nights in Normandy from a single base at Bayeux, visiting the D-Day landing beaches with a guide who spent his career as a firearms supervisor in Royalty Protection with the Metropolitan Police and now volunteers for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Own bike or a hired BMW.
The ferry from Poole lands at Cherbourg and the route runs straight to Bayeux, which came through the fighting almost undamaged and holds the largest Commonwealth cemetery in France.
The coastal days cover the British sectors at Sword and Gold, and Pegasus Bridge, taken by glider-borne infantry in the first minutes of 6 June 1944 in an operation that put three gliders down within yards of the objective in the dark. The first British soldier killed in the invasion died there. Juno follows, where the Canadians landed and took the heaviest casualties of any of the Commonwealth beaches, and then Omaha, where the cliffs and the German positions above them produced the worst losses of the day.
Bunkers, batteries and museums fill the gaps, and three nights in one hotel means no packing in between. Hotels, breakfasts, the welcome and farewell dinners, the return ferry, maps and GPS routes are included, with fuel and other meals separate. The price is quoted per person. A guide matters more here than on almost any other tour, because the beaches look like ordinary seaside without someone to explain what happened on each stretch of sand. The distances between the sites are short, so the days leave time to stand still and read the headstones rather than photograph a monument and move on.
