13 nights through India

Thirteen nights in a circuit from Delhi, guided, 2,000 kilometres through the fortress cities of Rajasthan on a Royal Enfield.

Alwar comes first out of Delhi, then Jaipur, the Pink City, which was laid out as a planned grid in 1727 and painted its buildings terracotta for a royal visit a century later and has stayed that colour since.

Pushkar follows, a pilgrimage town around a lake with hundreds of temples and one of the few in the country dedicated to Brahma, then Udaipur, built around artificial lakes with a palace on an island in the middle of one. Jodhpur comes next, the Blue City, under the walls of Mehrangarh, which rises straight out of a rock above the old town, then Jaisalmer, a golden sandstone fortress standing in the Thar Desert with people still living inside it, and a night camping out in the dunes. Bikaner and the painted merchant havelis of Mandawa close the loop back to Delhi.

Accommodation in havelis, palaces and hotels in single or double rooms, the airport transfers, the Royal Enfield, all the meals, a guide, first aid, mechanics with spare parts, a chase vehicle, all the fees and permits, the drinking water and the extras including a Delhi cycling tour and the desert camp are all included; the India visa, flights, medical insurance, gratuities, alcohol and any damage to the motorcycle are not. The full day-by-day itinerary sits behind an enquiry form on the operator’s site. October to March is the riding season, since Rajasthan in May is close to fifty degrees.
