Spain Road & Sun Tour

Andalusia on a motorcycle, self-guided. Eleven days from Madrid, ten nights and around 1,530 miles, taking in Seville, Ronda, Granada and Cordoba, with mountain roads between almost all of them.

It heads south-west first. The monastery of El Escorial and the Gredos Mountains lead to Guadalupe, then Merida’s Roman theatre, still used for performances two thousand years on, and the ham country of the Sierra de Huelva on the way to Seville. The Jerez sherry bodegas and the limestone gorges of the Sierra de Grazalema follow on the way to Castellar de la Frontera.

The middle of the trip is the best riding. The road through the Ronda mountains to the town itself, split by a gorge with a bridge across it, is one of the finest in Spain, then the White Villages and the Costa del Sol lead to Granada. A free day there is for the Alhambra, with an optional Sierra Nevada loop for anyone who would rather ride. Cordoba and its Mosque-Cathedral come next, then La Mancha, the Don Quixote windmills and Toledo.
