9 nights through Sri Lanka

Ten days, guided, on a Royal Enfield 350 Classic, from the south coast to the Cultural Triangle.

The operator pitches A Sneak Peek at riders who do not have long to ride in Sri Lanka. It covers about 850 km at four to six hours a day, starting in Galle on the south coast and ending in the Cultural Triangle, so it is a one-way route rather than a loop. The group stays in three-star hotels on a twin-sharing basis.

The tour opens in Galle with a briefing and a visit to Galle Fort, a World Heritage site. The next day heads inland through the lush southern countryside to Udawalawe, on great roads with very little traffic, and Belihuloya follows. From there a day through lakes and forests climbs to about 1,500 metres into tea country, with the viewpoint at Sir Lipton’s Seat on the way to Ella. The next stretch goes to Horton Plains, a high plateau of grassland and cloud forest, then Nuwara Eliya, the hill station known as Little England, where the group stays at the Golf Club, a building the operator says has a lot of history and a good bar. The route map then continues through Kandy, the Knuckles Forest Reserve, Dambulla and Anuradhapura.

The price and dates are not yet published, with both shown as to be decided, so the operator needs to be contacted for a quote. The tour is all-inclusive on the operator’s usual terms: motorcycle, fuel and spares, accommodation, meals, guides, support vehicle, crew and mechanic, airport transfers and entrance fees. Flights, visa, insurance and alcohol are extra. Sri Lankan riding requires an International Driving Licence plus a Ceylon AA endorsement, which the operator arranges.
