Norway from a single base in Alesund, with a sea view from the hotel and five loop rides to choose between across six nights. The departures are timed for the midnight sun, when the sun does not properly set, so the riding day can run as long as the rider wants it to.

The loops are all worth doing. Runde is a bird island where more than half a million seabirds nest on the cliffs in season. The Geirangerfjord run takes the road of the same name down to one of the most photographed fjords in the country. Trollstigen, the troll’s ladder, is eleven hairpins stacked up a near-vertical wall and is among the most dramatic mountain roads in Europe.

The other two are different again. The Atlantic Ocean Road threads eight bridges across a chain of low islands and is spectacular in rough weather, which it gets plenty of. The fjord loop near Kristiansund works its way around and across ten separate fjords using ferries and tunnels, which is a very Norwegian kind of day out.

Edelweiss include a choice of BMW motorcycle, six nights at the single sea-view hotel, the guided daily loops and a tour book. Flights are separate and the inclusions are not itemised in full on the operator’s page. The price quoted is per person for 2027. At 4,260 euros this is the most expensive of the operator’s hub-and-spoke weeks, which reflects Norwegian costs rather than anything about the format. For scenery per mile ridden, nowhere in Europe does better.
