Six nights from Las Vegas to Moab, self-drive with private guides, taking in all five of Utah’s national parks, with the price quoted on application.

The guiding is what distinguishes this from any other Utah road trip. Each park is seen with a private guide rather than from a car park, and at Capitol Reef that guide is a former park ranger.

Three nights at the Cliffrose Lodge at Springdale open it, on the doorstep of Zion, with a privately guided day that can be built round hiking, an introduction to canyoneering, a desert oasis or a ghost town, and a picnic lunch. Bryce Canyon follows from Tropic, among the hoodoos, with lunch among bristlecone pines two thousand years old. Highway 12 then carries the route to Capitol Reef for an off-road Jeep tour through two hundred million years of rock, with petroglyphs, dinosaur bones and the Temple of the Sun. Two nights at the Sorrel River Ranch near Moab close it, for the Island in the Sky mesa and the Shafer Trail in Canyonlands, Devil’s Garden in Arches, a 4×4 run past Tower Arch, and a cruise on the Colorado below Dead Horse Point.

The rental car, the three named hotels, breakfast daily, the private guided tours in all five parks, the river cruise, economy flights from London, the transfers and UK airport lounge passes are all included; lunches beyond those specified and canyoneering equipment fees are not. The price is given on application. Spring and autumn are the seasons, since southern Utah in July regularly passes forty degrees.
