16 nights through Canada

Sixteen nights in a loop from Vancouver in a motorhome, with two hotel nights at the start and the Rockies in the middle.

Vancouver takes the first two nights, with Stanley Park and Gastown, before the motorhome is collected. The Okanagan Valley comes first on the road, the main wine region in Canada and the only true desert in the country, with an optional vineyard day, then Revelstoke with its trails and gondola.

Banff follows through Glacier National Park, with two nights, the gondola up Sulphur Mountain and a cruise on Lake Minnewanka. The Icefields Parkway carries the route north by way of Lake Louise to Jasper, with the Columbia Icefield and the Glacier Skywalk on the way and two nights at the far end. Wells Gray comes next, which holds over a hundred and fifty waterfalls including Helmcken Falls, then Whistler on the Sea to Sky Highway, with two nights and a guided bear-viewing tour.

Fifteen days of motorhome hire sleeping up to five with unlimited kilometres, linen and kitchen kits, two nights of Vancouver accommodation, the Rockies explorer ticket covering the gondola, the lake cruise, the icefield and the skywalk, and the Whistler bear tour are included; campsites and international flights are not. Seventeen days with two-night stops at four of the stops is a comfortable pace. The season runs roughly June to September, and no wildlife sighting can be promised, though the bear tour at Whistler goes out with guides who know where to look. Bear rules apply at most campsites on this route.
