Highlights Windhoek to Victoria Falls (Namibia & Botswana Self-Drive Tour)

Seventeen nights from Windhoek to Victoria Falls, entirely independent, in a hire car with the accommodation arranged, with the price quoted on application.

This is the shorter version of the operator’s one-way run to the Falls, without the fly-in Delta safari, which makes it the cheaper route across the same ground.

Sossusvlei opens it with the dunes, then Swakopmund, where the optional list is long: sandboarding, quad biking, riding in the dunes, scenic flights, boat tours, or a Little Five desert safari, which looks for the small specialists of the Namib rather than the large mammals and is more interesting than it sounds. The route then runs inland by Henties Bay with a stop at the Cape Cross seal colony, where tens of thousands of fur seals haul out on one beach. Etosha follows for the game viewing, with rhino often at the waterholes, then the long drive east into the Zambezi Region, which is green and wooded and nothing like the rest of the country, and Victoria Falls at the end.

A 2×4 or 4×4 depending on the itinerary and the accommodation throughout are included; international flights, fuel, the optional activities and most meals, with dinner at the guest’s own expense on some nights, are not. The price is given on application. The dry season from May to October is the window. No wildlife sighting can be promised. Eighteen days covering the same ground as the longer version, minus the Delta flight, is the sensible choice for anyone who would rather spend the difference on the optional activities at Swakopmund.
