Fourteen days, guided, on a Royal Enfield 500 Classic through the state in the middle of India.

The operator introduces Madhya Pradesh as less visited than Rajasthan but no less impressive. It sits south of Delhi and is described as a place where good roads wind through hills and villages and the Narmada river passes through marble gorges. It also has a large concentration of tiger reserves, which the operator ties to the India of Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book. The route covers about 1,865 km at four to six hours a day, entirely on asphalt, and the operator rates it intermediate.

The page itself is light on day-by-day detail. It promises deserted cities, princely states, erotic temples and the mighty Narmada river, and says the group stays in hotels of good standard and heritage properties. The tour gallery fills in some of the places: Gwalior Fort, the Khajuraho temple sculptures, Bandhavgarh National Park, the white marble gorges at Bhedaghat and, from the neighbouring state, Pushkar’s ghats and Abhaneri’s step well. Tiger sightings are never guaranteed, even in good reserves. The operator warns that riding in India takes focus because of dense traffic and animals crossing the road.

The price is per rider, with a lower pillion rate and a single supplement of US$450, and covers the motorcycle, fuel and spares, twin-shared hotels, all meals, local and international guides, a support vehicle, crew and mechanic, airport transfers and entrance fees. Flights, visa, insurance and alcohol are not included. An International Driving Permit under the Geneva convention is required. The departure listed is 5 to 20 November 2027.
