7 nights through Italy

The Italian half of the Alps and Dolomites route, guided, and with a Swiss detour the self-guided version does not include. Eight days from Treviglio to Milan, seven nights and around 620 miles, with a tour leader, a welcome dinner and a celebration dinner to finish.

Lake Iseo and the Western Gardesana road along Lake Garda open it on the way to Trento, then the Rolle Pass, the Forcella Aurine and the Giau Pass climb to Cortina d’Ampezzo. The Misurina Lake, the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and the Sella Group passes through the UNESCO Dolomites follow to Ortisei, which is the heart of the riding.

Val Venosta and Lake Resia come next, with the bell tower of a flooded village still standing out of the water, and then Livigno. From there the guided route takes its own line: into Switzerland by way of Chur and the natural rock pools at Lavertezzo in the Verzasca valley, where the water is startlingly clear, then a ferry across Lake Maggiore and on through Lake Lugano, Como and Bellagio into Milan.

EAGLERIDER provides the motorcycle, the tour leader, all seven nights and the group dinners. Fuel, most meals and insurance are arranged separately, and prices are quoted in US dollars. Daily distances are short, 69 to 131 miles, because these are roads to be ridden rather than covered. For a guided week in the Dolomites with a genuinely different Swiss finish rather than a straight run back to Milan, this is the one to look at.
