The first UK running

The 1000 Miglia ran as a road race 24 times between 1927 and 1957 and survives today as a regularity event through Italy. In July 2027 it comes to Britain for the first time. The 1000 Miglia Xperience UK is based in North Yorkshire, runs over five days, and is held in association with Motorsport UK, Visit North Yorkshire and Harewood.

Rudding Park near Harrogate is the event hotel for the opening nights. Cars are presented for administrative checks and scrutineering in the grounds on the Wednesday. Thursday brings a training run and a 37 mile prologue that takes in the Harewood Hillclimb, the longest hill climb course in the country, with lunch at Bowcliffe Hall and a time trial at Rudding Park. Harewood House holds the competing cars on the south terrace for the 1000 Miglia display.

Three competitive days follow, 413 miles in all. The first is a 139 mile loop over the North York Moors from Harewood House, with a passage control at Castle Howard and a time trial at Birdsall House. The second runs 129 miles north through Grassington and Hawes, over the Buttertubs Pass and past the Ribblehead Viaduct to a lunch halt and time trial at Raby Castle, finishing at Matfen Hall in Northumberland. The third returns 145 miles south by Barnard Castle and Richmond, with an average speed test on the Croft race circuit and afternoon tea at Grantley Hall before the finish in Harrogate.

Entry covers one car and two people, five nights in the event hotels, five dinners including the welcome and awards nights, four lunches with VIP hospitality at Harewood House, route books and secure overnight parking. Three classes are offered: cars built before 1957 and eligible for the 1000 Miglia, classics built between 1958 and 1987, and post-1987 continuation and reincarnated classics by invitation. The Fast Lane Club handles entries.

This is the first UK running of the event, so no photography of it exists yet. The images on this page are for illustration.
