12 nights through Sri Lanka

Thirteen days, guided, for women riders, on a Royal Enfield 350 Classic around Sri Lanka’s mountains, plantations and southern coast.

This is a women-focused departure of the operator’s Hidden Sri Lanka route, captained by Rosaria Fiorentino. The operator describes her as president of WIMA Italy (the Women’s International Motorcycle Association), founder of Donne Special Motocicliste, organiser of the yearly Babes Great Escape and, since 2016, host of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride in Rome. She leads alongside the operator’s usual international team, with local guides, a mechanic and a support vehicle.

The route is the same island loop as the standard Hidden Sri Lanka tour: about 1,450 km, four to six hours of riding a day, starting and ending in Galle. The first long day runs through the southern countryside to Udawalawe, and then the road climbs into the tea country of the central highlands. Horton Plains, a high plateau of grassland and cloud forest, leads on to Nuwara Eliya, the colonial hill station, and Kandy, the old capital, which has a rest day. The UNESCO sites at Horton Plains, Dambulla and the Knuckles mountains give the cultural and natural stops, and the route crosses to the east coast before returning to the south. Wildlife sightings, including elephants, are possible but never guaranteed.

The price is per rider, with a lower pillion rate and a single supplement of US$450 for those who want their own room. It covers the motorcycle, fuel and spares, twin-sharing accommodation in handpicked hotels, all meals, guides, support crew, airport transfers and entrance fees. Flights, visa, insurance and alcohol are extra. The only date on the page has passed, so the first step is to ask the operator whether a new women’s departure is planned.
