9 nights through Namibia

Nine nights in a loop from Windhoek, self-driven in convoy behind a leader, through the Namib, the coast, Damaraland and Etosha.

Ten days is short for Namibia and the route is built accordingly: the four things the country is best known for, with the convoy taking the navigation and the logistics out of it.

Windhoek opens it with the handover, then Sesriem, with a full day for Sossusvlei, Deadvlei and the canyon. Swakopmund follows, with a catamaran cruise at Walvis Bay and a 4×4 trip into Sandwich Harbour, where the dunes drop straight into the Atlantic. Twyfelfontein comes next for the rock engravings, with a day in the Huab valley looking for the desert-adapted elephants that move along the dry riverbeds, and a visit to a Himba village. Etosha closes it with a full day of game drives round the waterholes before the return to Windhoek.

The 4×4 shared between two guests, the national park permits, the game drives, Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, the Walvis Bay catamaran, the Sandwich Harbour trip, Twyfelfontein, the Himba visit, premium twin-share stays and the meals throughout are all included; a chauffeur-driven option costs extra. The price shown is per person sharing. The dry season from May to October is the window. No wildlife sighting can be promised, the elephants least of all. The village visit depends on the community’s own consent and is arranged locally. Ten days means long driving days between the stops, which in Namibia is no hardship: the gravel roads are good and there is almost nothing coming the other way.
