8 nights through Sri Lanka

Nine days, guided, on a Royal Enfield 350 Classic, with the hotels as the main attraction.

The operator calls this its ultimate indulgence tour, and the itinerary is organised by where you sleep rather than by sights. It covers roughly 1,450 km, with four to six hours in the saddle a day on roads the operator says are mostly recently laid, with sweeping corners through the hills. The accommodation is chosen to show off the boutique side of the island, and the operator says that if availability changes it will substitute something of equal standard.

The first night is at The Wallawwa, an award-winning 18-bedroom country house hotel set in 200-year-old tropical gardens and carved out of an 18th-century manor house, about 15 minutes from the airport. Ulagalla Resort follows, on a 58-acre garden around a 150-year-old mansion, with 25 villas with private pools. Day three ends at Madulkelle Tea and Eco Lodge, on a tea plantation 1,000 metres up in the Knuckles range. The map then shows Gal Oya Lodge on the east side, Amaya Langdale in the hills, Jetwing Kaduruketha, a tented lodge on the Wild Coast near Yala, where the operator describes safaris, and Why House on the south coast. Wildlife viewing depends on the day.

The price is per rider and the page advertises a re-launch offer of 10 per cent off the rider price and 20 per cent off the pillion price, so confirm the current figure with the operator. The tour includes the motorcycle, accommodation, all meals, local and international guides, a support vehicle with crew and mechanic, airport transfers and entrance fees.
